Ontario is helping a Bolton scientific instrument company expand its business and create new jobs.
Ionics Mass Spectrometry Group Inc. will enhance its manufacturing capabilities, having recently launched a mass spectrometer, the 3Q Molecular Analyzer, and will continue to research and develop these products. The new manufacturing capabilities will complement Ionics’ current line of products.
Ontario is contributing nearly $4 million towards the $13.3 million project that will create 27 new jobs and retain 24 positions. The investment will help to establish the province as a centre of excellence and a leading jurisdiction in scientific-equipment production.
Partnering with local manufacturers is a key component of the Open Ontario five-year plan to create new job opportunities and promote economic growth in the province.
“Ontario proudly supports innovation and diversification efforts made by businesses that invest in the province. Partnering with Ionics is another solid example of how the province is working to strengthen its life sciences and advanced manufacturing sectors, protect good jobs for hard-working Ontario families, and anchor strong businesses to our communities.”
– Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade
“We are pleased to have Ontario’s support in helping move this project forward. With this investment we will become globally competitive with very sophisticated and inventive technologies, while keeping the manufacturing jobs in Ontario”.
– Dr. Reza Javahery, President, Ionics Mass Spectrometry Group
