Ontario is helping a Richmond Hill food processor create 60 good, highly-skilled jobs and support 10 existing positions.
Protenergy Natural Foods Corporation supplies leading retailers and branded manufacturers around the world with soups, broths and sauces. By investing in new processing and packaging technologies, the company will increase its manufacturing capacity, lower production costs, and enhance its ability to introduce new product lines.
The company’s automated, state-of-the-art facility specializes in environmentally-friendly packaging. The project will enable the company to produce chunked-style soups in re-closable cartons, the first of its kind in Canada and the second in North America.
Partnering with local business is a key component of the Open Ontario plan and of 2011 Ontario Budget - Turning the Corner, to create and support 10,000 new and existing jobs for Ontario families and strengthen our local economies.
“Supporting business growth and development through the use of innovative and green technologies is a priority for this government. Partnering with companies like Protenergy allows us to achieve that goal and helps Ontario’s economy in turning the corner.”
– Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade
“Many companies in the Richmond Hill area use innovation to grow their businesses into successful enterprises. Protenergy is a prime example, staying ahead of the competition to build its leadership position across North America.”
— Reza Moridi, MPP for Richmond Hill
“Protenergy Natural Foods Corporation’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility enables customers to receive innovative products of the highest quality and the support by the Ontario government will help us improve our already stringent standards for product safety.”
