Ontario is helping Hydrogenics — a Mississauga clean tech company — enhance and expand its advanced hydrogen power technologies, while creating 50 new jobs and protecting 50 existing positions for Ontario families.
With support from the province, Hydrogenics will improve, develop and market new advanced hydrogen power and fuel cell technologies to better support the wind/solar, telecommunications, and transportation industries. The company will also work on hydrogen energy research initiatives in cooperation with four Ontario universities and two National Research Council facilities.
Partnering with business and strengthening the clean technology industry are key components of the McGuinty government’s plan to create and support new and existing jobs for Ontario families, and strengthen local economies.
“Developing and marketing innovative, clean technologies that reduce our carbon footprint is one of Ontario’s strengths and a testimony of our growing impact in the global marketplace. Hydrogenics’ achievements will help ensure the province remains at the forefront of hydrogen power research, while creating jobs to strengthen our economy and help Ontario families.”
— Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade
“Ontario is a global leader in developing new technologies for tomorrow’s energy needs. Our clean energy plan is helping great companies like Hydrogenics create new jobs and new opportunities in communities like Mississauga-South Brampton. Partnerships like these continue to move Ontario forward.”
— Amrit Mangat, MPP for Mississauga-Brampton South
“Our capacity to develop and market new technologies and compete more effectively globally will be greatly improved through this initiative, and help us secure our position as a leader in hydrogen power. We appreciate the Ontario government’s contribution and support.”
— Daryl Wilson, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hydrogenics Corporation
