New Support For Biopharmaceutical Sector: McGuinty Government Helps Company Establish Canadian Headquarters in Mississauga

NEWS

Ontario is helping Eisai Inc., a pharmaceutical company, establish its Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, creating 11 new jobs and protecting one other position.

Eisai’s expansion into Canada will increase access to a variety of therapies and medications, including treatments for advanced breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and epilepsy. Eisai will also continue to invest in clinical trials here, supporting Ontario suppliers, both public and private research institutions and organizations.
Partnering with businesses and modernizing Ontario's tax system is a key part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create jobs for Ontario families and enhance programs and services that matter to Ontario families, such as health care and education.

This investment in a large, global company will help strengthen the biopharmaceutical industry in Ontario, help create jobs in the Mississauga area and provide access to health therapies and medications to Ontarians.”
— Amrit Mangrat, MPP for Mississauga-Brampton South

“We chose Ontario over other Canadian jurisdictions because of the benefits it offers, including its exceptional talent pool, comprehensive research and clinical trial resources, and unique global connections and partnerships. We are thankful to the Ontario government for its contribution.”
