Ontario is helping Labotix — a Peterborough based automation company — develop the next generation of its automation systems for clinical laboratories and create 8 new jobs.
With the province’s support, Labotix will work to design and create innovative technology that helps laboratories reduce costs and increase efficiency by automating repetitive tasks, while freeing up technicians to handle more complex responsibilities. The company will also begin testing new types of automation systems that will increase their global competitiveness.
Ontario is providing a strong and stable environment for businesses to grow and create good jobs for families in the face of global economic uncertainty. These new jobs build upon the 124,800 net new full time jobs that have already been created in Ontario so far this year.
Partnering with local businesses and supporting made-in-Ontario technologies is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to make innovation a driving force of economic growth and create jobs for Ontario families.
“As a government, we are committed to helping turn great ideas into great jobs. That’s why we are making the Eastern Ontario Development Fund permanent, to create more success stories like the one here at Labotix.”
— Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development and Innovation
“Our support will help Labotix to attract new customers from around the world while creating good jobs right here in Peterborough. Today’s announcement also builds on our government’s efforts to diversify the local economy by attracting and expanding high-tech companies within the region.”
—Jeff Leal, MPP for Peterborough
“The support from the Government of Ontario allows us to strengthen our competitive advantage. Continually investing in the development of new products is essential for Labotix to attract new customers and remain at the forefront of our industry.”
— John Gustafson, President and CEO, Labotix
