ServiceOntario provides small businesses with one-stop access to government information and services online, in person and by phone.  Through the ServiceOntario.ca website, users can navigate through a wide range of general information about government programs and services in one convenient and easy-to-use location.

ServiceOntario also helps people start up their business.  Entrepreneurs can apply for a Master Business Licence (MBL) and make applications for a range of essential provincial programs

  • Business Name Registration and Renewal;
  • Business Name Searches and Enhanced Business Name Search;
  • Retail Sales Tax;
  • Employer Health Tax; and,
  • Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

Businesses can also register for Goods and Service Tax (GST), corporate income tax, payroll deduction and import/export accounts.  The ServiceOntario website also allows users to update business information, when needed, through the website.  This service provides business owners with a fast and easy way to notify different levels of government of changes or updates to their business information, or when closing their accounts.

These services are offered through 150 self-help computer kiosks, on the Internet and through private sector service providers under contract with the ministry.  Those who do not have access to the Internet, can register in person at locations such as Small Business Enterprise Centres and ServiceOntario/Government Information Centres.  Support for business services is provided in conjunction with the Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre (COBSC).

Real Property Registration Branch
