Proposed amendments to Ontario Regulation 208/09 (Tobacco - Powers of Local Board)
Ontario Regulation 208/09 (Tobacco - Powers of Local Board) outlines the authorities of the Ontario Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers' Marketing Board (OFCTGMB). As of January 1, 2015, some of the authorities under O. Regulation 208/09, including licensing tobacco producers and production in Ontario, are now the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance (MOF). Amendments are being proposed to O. Regulation 208/09 to revoke authorities of the OFCTGMB that duplicate those that MOF now exercises.

2015 Long-Term Care (LTC) home and Hospital Chronic Care co-payment increase
The approved amendments to regulations set out the annual increase to the LTC home and chronic care co-payment rates, increase the premiums for preferred accommodations in newer LTC homes, and reflect an increase in the dependant deduction amounts used in the calculation of a reduced co-payment rate for LTC home residents in basic accommodation.

The Ministry's consultation proposes revisions to Ontario's occupational exposure limits (OELs) based on the 2012 recommendations of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

Consultation on Proposed Changes to the Hazardous Substance Regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The key components of the consultation include: Proposed changes to the occupational exposure limits or listings for 12 substances primarily based on the recommendations of the American Conference of Governmental Hygienists for 2013. Proposed initiatives to expedite the process of adopting more protective OELs for a number of substances under the hazardous substance regulations.

Improving Consumer Protection for the Re-Sale of Tickets: Ticket Speculation Act, Potential exemption regulation
A new regulation under the Act could help reduce the numbers of fraudulent tickets, by encouraging resellers of tickets to sell them using a system that provides for the authentication of the tickets being resold or a money-back guarantee.

Ontario has amended Regulation 341/94 and 340/94 to recognize the Department of National Defence (DND) 404 permit and the extensive training and testing required to obtain these permits.

Reviewing Off-Road Vehicle Safety in Ontario
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is currently reviewing the statutory framework for off-road vehicle (ORV) safety in Ontario. The ministry is seeking feedback on various ORV-related safety issues from the general public, independent riders and any interested organizations including those representing recreational and non-recreational riders, enforcement, municipalities, public health, manufacturers, agricultural groups and environmental or trail organizations.

Streamlining the Environmental Assessment Requirements for the Planning of Electrification of Commuter Rail Transit  (source: Environmental Registry)
The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change is proposing to clarify that the Transit Projects Assessment Process (TPAP) described in Ontario Regulation 231/08 - Transit Projects and Metrolinx Undertakings (Transit Regulation) can apply to the planning of all applicable aspects of a commuter rail electrification project.

Update to the Reports Regulation under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) and the Laboratories Regulation under the Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licencing Act (LSCCLA).
The anonymous HIV testing (AT) provisions under the HPPA have been extended to include HIV viral load testing, and the Regulation under LSCCLA has been updated to include these provisions. Changes to the Regulations are required in order to protect persons who test anonymously at a clinic, to preserve the original exemption for AT in Ontario.
