The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is seeking public input on proposed changes to the Ontario Fire Code related to the checking, inspection, and testing of standpipe systems.

Proposed consequential amendments to O. Reg. 285/01 and O. Reg. 125/16 made under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 if Bill 148 - Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 is passed.
Proposed changes to O. Reg 285/01 and O. Reg 125/16 to reflect amendments to the Employment Standards Act, 2000 if Bill 148 - Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 is passed. This includes removing sections from the regulation that would be moved to the Act and updating certain references.

Proposed increase to administrative monetary penalties (Notice of Contravention) under Employment Standards Act, 2000 and Employment Protection for Foreign Nationals Act, 2009
The proposal would amend Regulation 289/01 (Enforcement) under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 and Regulation 47/10 (Penalties) under the Employment Protection for Foreign Nationals Act, 2009 by increasing the value of the penalties for contraventions of the Acts.

Proposed new regulation to provide transitional rules for the implementation of certain amendments to the Labour Relations Act, 1995, if Bill 148 - Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 is passed. This includes transitional rules in relation to remedial certification, review of structure of bargaining units, no discharge or discipline without just cause during lawful strike or lock-out periods, fines for offences, and location and method of voting.

Regulation change under the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act: Regulating compressed air energy storage in porous rock reservoirs and solution-mined salt caverns  (source: Environmental Registry)
The Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act was amended by the Ontario Legislature to allow other underground geological storage activities, including compressed air energy storage (CAES) to be regulated under that framework by prescribing projects and activities in the regulation under the act. Until regulation changes are made, the changes have no effect. The proposed changes would bring the wells and subsurface activities associated with CAES projects using solution-mined salt caverns.

ENERGY is proposing to amend existing regulations that prescribe what Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) and Unit Sub-Meter Providers (USMPs) must include in their invoices to customers. Highlights of the amendments include requirements to provide dynamic messaging with respect to savings associated with the Fair Hydro Plan, key information on the front page of the bill, and a simplified glossary of terms.

Proposed amendments to O. Reg. 16/08 made under the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 (OEBA).
ENERGY is proposing to amend an existing regulation to require unit sub-meter providers to pay an allocation of cost assessments with respect to expenses incurred and expenditures made by the Ontario Energy Board in the exercise of its powers.

Proposed Cigarette Filter Components Regulation
The Ministry of Finance regulates the distribution of tobacco products in Ontario. The Tobacco Tax Act was amended to introduce a new regulatory regime for oversight on the import and possession of cigarette filter components to reduce the supply to the unregulated tobacco market. The Ministry of Finance is developing regulatory and administrative measures to support amendments to the Tobacco Tax Act, which will come into effect January 1, 2018.

Ontario has previously indicated its intent to link its program with the program of California and Quebec. Ontario is now putting forward a proposal to make a number of amendments to the existing cap and trade program regulations to provide for linking, set 2021-2030 caps and other amendments aimed at improving fair and equitable treatment amongst program participants. This includes administrative amendments to improve data reliability and program efficiency.
