Summary of Proposal: The Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 received Royal Assent in the Ontario Legislature on December 13, 2002. The new Act consolidates and modernizes two existing statutes, the Cemeteries Act (Revised) and the Funeral Directors and Establishments Act. Before the new Act can come into force, the government must develop the necessary supporting regulations.
