Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is seeking approval to amend Ontario Regulation 612/20 "Centralized Supply Chain Ontario" under the Supply Chain Management Act (Government, Broader Public Sector and Health Sector Entities), 2019 (SCMA) to allow Supply Ontario to engage in vendors for the purpose of carrying out its objects and duties, which would include procurement information.
The regulatory amendment would clarify Supply Ontario's authority to request data directly from vendors on behalf of entities covered under the Act. It would not compel vendors to provide this information.
Currently, while Supply Ontario has broad data collection authority, the current regulations do not explicitly allow collecting data directly from vendors on behalf of covered entities. Clarifying it's authority to request data directly from vendors would allow Supply Ontario to more efficiently collect information, eliminating the need to request authorization from each individual entity. Obtaining direct data would enrich Supply Ontario's existing data holdings and support richer data analysis.
