The goal of the proposed regulation is to ensure that species at risk are protected under the new act while providing certainty to industry and the public when the Endangered Species Act, 2007 comes into force.
Effective Date:  June 30, 2008

Landfill Gas Collection and Control Regulation  (source: Environmental Registry)

The purpose of this regulation is to reduce landfill gas emissions to the atmosphere to help meet Ontario's greenhouse gas reduction targets. Reducing landfill gas emissions will also reduce the emission of trace compounds in landfill gas that may cause odour or affect local air quality.

As a part of the government's commitment to implement all of the recommendations of the Walkerton Inquiry, and to implement the source protection framework set out by the Clean Water Act, 2006, the government is preparing regulations under the Act to support the development and implementation of source protection plans across the province. The draft regulations provide an opportunity to comment, and therefore assist in the preparation of Clean Water Act regulations.
