The purpose of this posting is to provide general notice to the public that amendments will be made to Ontario Regulation 230/08 (Species at Risk in Ontario List) in response to a report received by the Minister of Natural Resources from the Committee on the Status of Species at Risk in Ontario (COSSARO) on October 24, 2012. These changes to the Species at Risk in Ontario (SARO) List are mandatory and are consistent with the Endangered Species Act, 2007.

Revoke Regulation 784

Regulation 784 has been spent since 2006. Clauses 12(d) to (d.3) of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Act set out the regulation making authorities for Regulation 784, and were repealed by submission 48(2) of the Local health System Integration Act, 2006, which came into force on March 28, 2006.

Mandatory Adoption of Upper-Tier (County) Official Plans

This is a proposal by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to amend Ontario Regulation 352/02 (Mandatory Adoption of Official Plans) under the Planning Act to require all upper-tier municipalities to adopt an official plan.

Growing the Greenbelt - Proposed amendment to the Greenbelt Area boundary regulation  (source: Environmental Registry)

The proposed regulation would add approximately 255 hectares (630 acres) to the area of land designated as Greenbelt Area in O.Reg. 59/05. O.Reg. 59/05 was made on Feb. 25, 2005 and established the boundary of the Greenbelt Area pursuant to the Greenbelt Act, 2005.

Amendments to Regulation 440 (Vegetables for Processing - Marketing) to revise the negotiation dates for cucumbers.

Industry has asked for two of the dates relating to the cucumber negotiations to be revised in order to fit better into their business cycle. The proposal is for the first round deadline to be moved from December 5 to December 15, and for the local board offer deadline to be moved from December 15 to December 20. Regulation 440 is an Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission regulation which the Commission has the authority to amend.

Proposed regulation determines eligibility for services under SIPDDA for: adults receiving funding through the Passport program (including funding previously provided through Special Services at Home (SSAH)) as of March 31/13, adults who were waitlisted for SSAH by March 31/12, youth turning 18 by March 31/13 who were waitlisted for SSAH, and adults who applied, found eligible for and received or were waitlisted for services under the Developmental Services Act between January and June 2011

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is developing two regulations under the Animal Health Act, 2009 (the Act): 1. Reporting - A proposed Minister's regulation would address the mandatory reporting of hazards (including animal diseases) by laboratories, as well as certain findings made by veterinarians; and 2. Compensation - A proposed Lieutenant Governor in Council regulation would provide a legal framework for providing financial compensation under the Act.

The proposed revisions to the compost framework would: support increased waste diversion from landfill; establish three new categories for finished compost (AA, A and B), which would allow the composting of a broader range of materials (such as septage, sewage biosolids and pulp and paper biosolids) in a manner that is protective of the environment and human health; align Ontario’s compost standards more closely with other provinces; and provide updated best management practices and guidance.
