The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is proposing to amend O. Reg. 267/15 under the Agricultural Products Insurance Act, 1996 to allow the Province to offer a plan of insurance (commonly referred to as a Production Insurance Plan (PIP)) for tree mortality to tender fruit farmers, similar to what is currently available for apple and grape farmers. Tender fruit includes pear, plum, sweet and sour cherry, peach and nectarine.
