Humane trapping amendments to Ontario Regulation under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997  (source: Environmental Registry)

This Ontario Regulation 667/98 amendment includes several new certified humane traps for lynx, beaver and muskrat, as well as humane certified traps for bobcat - a species that was not previously listed in the certified trap schedules in the trapping regulation. This amendment ensures that trappers are aware of certified humane traps that must be used to target these species.
Effective Date:  October 5, 2018

Amendments to the Industrial Establishments Regulation (Reg. 851)

The Industrial Establishments Regulation, made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, has been amended to add a new, targeted exemption from guardrail requirements as well as a requirement for employers to develop and implement other measures and procedures to protect workers from the hazard of falling where any of the guardrail exemptions apply.

Amendments to Ontario Regulation 79/10 (Regulation) under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (LTCHA) related to Cannabis in Long-Term Care (LTC) Homes

The amendments create a framework to support the use of recreational cannabis in LTC homes, while supporting clarity in the use and storage of medical cannabis.

Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 Regulation

The following summary outlines proposed amendments to Ontario Regulation 268/18 under the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017. The ministry is soliciting feedback on the proposed amendments. Some of the proposed regulatory amendments are conditional on the passage of certain proposed amendments to the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 set out in Bill 36, Cannabis Statute Law Amendment Act, 2018, introduced in the Legislature on September 27, 2018.

Proposed Amendments to the Fault Determination Rules and Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule under the Insurance Act

The Ministry of Finance is proposing consequential technical amendments to regulations under the Insurance Act to reflect changes to the federal Criminal Code related to the legalization of cannabis, which is set to come into effect on October 17, 2018.

Regulation change under the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act: Regulating compressed air energy storage in porous rock reservoirs and solution-mined salt caverns  (source: Environmental Registry)

The Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act was amended by the Ontario Legislature to allow other underground geological storage activities, including compressed air energy storage to be regulated under that framework by prescribing projects and activities in the regulation under the act. Until regulation changes are made, the changes have no effect. The proposed changes would bring the wells and subsurface activities associated with compressed air energy storage projects using solution-mined salt
