Proposed changes to the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (Ontario Regulation 34/10) under the Insurance Act

The proposed changes, if approved, would clarify that insurance companies are required to pay Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) in addition to accident benefit limits outlined in the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS).

Proposed Amendments to the General Regulation (O. Reg. 237/09) under the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, 1994 Regarding Deposit Insurance Premiums

The Ministry of Finance is proposing to amend the General Regulation to change how a credit union's annual deposit insurance premium payable is calculated.

Proposed Amendments to Regulation 664 (Automobile Insurance)

The Ministry of Finance is proposing amendments to Regulation 664 under the Insurance Act. These amendments would support the transfer of the remaining open Dispute Resolution Services (DRS) cases from the Financial Services Commission of Ontario to the Licence Appeal Tribunal, which is one of the nineteen constituent tribunals of Tribunals Ontario.

We are proposing to amend the Renewable Energy Approvals Regulation to change who is eligible for a renewable energy approval. The amendment would require a project developer to show there is demand for the electricity they will generate to get a renewable energy approval.

We are proposing regulation amendments to ensure that renewable energy approvals are only issued if confirmation of zoning approval is received from local municipal authorities. This will help restore municipal planning authority over the siting of renewable energy projects.

The Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines is proposing to amend O. Reg. 274/18 ("Siting Regulation"), which imposes siting restrictions on renewable energy generation facilities ("Projects"), as part of the transition to municipal planning authority resulting from the Planning Act amendments under the Green Energy Repeal Act, 2018.
