In response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and at the request of the Ontario Food Terminal Board, the ministry has drafted two new regulations under the Ontario Food Terminal Act, R.S.O., 1990, titled "Manager's Protocol Respecting the Coronavirus (COVID-19)" and "Compliance with Manager's Protocol Respecting the Coronavirus (COVID-19)".

The Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission has amended R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 753 (Grades, Standards, Designations, Classes, Packing), under the Milk Act.
The amendments, which align with Canada's national dairy strategy, eliminate milk class 6 from the classification table within the regulation, and reclassify products and ingredients formerly under this class. Milk classification is based on end use. The amendments were made to comply with the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement.

Ontario amended O. Reg. 429/04 to introduce an "ICI Peak Hiatus" in which electricity consumers participating in the Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI) do not need to take actions to avoid system peaks this year as economic recovery from COVID-19 progresses.

On June 1, 2020, the government implemented a flat COVID-19 Recovery Rate of 12.8 ¢/kWh for all Regulated Price Plan (RPP) Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity customers. The government intends that RPP TOU customers will be charged this flat rate for all periods of the day, seven days a week, until October 31, 2020.
