Proposed Amendment to O. Reg. 53/05 (Payments under Section 78.1 of the Act), made under the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998

The Ministry of Energy is proposing to amend Ontario Regulation 53/05 in order to subject certain Ontario Power Generation (OPG) hydroelectric generation facilities to regulation by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). Such facilities are currently unregulated and non-contracted and receive only the Hourly Ontario Energy Price (HOEP) for energy generation through the Independent Electricity System Operator's (IESO) "spot" market.
