MNDM proposes that the current Assessment Work Regulation (O. Reg. 6/96) and the Claim Staking and Recording Regulation (O. Reg. 43/11) will be revoked and replaced by a new Assessment Work Regulation and a new Mining Claim Regulation. These will reflect the technical changes to the Mining Act in Schedule 2 of the Bill 39, the Aggregate Resources and Mining Modernization Act, 2017.

• Amendments to the Pesticides Act and Environmental Protection Act to transition the pesticide licensing program from paper-based to online service delivery. Licences would be issued automatically online if prescribed requirements are met, and certain information about pesticide licences would be made publically available.

• The proposed Cutting Unnecessary Red Tape Bill, 2017 is the second annual burden reduction bill.
• The first annual burden reduction bill, Bill 27, was introduced in September 2016 and passed March 2017.
• The objective of this annual legislation is to reduce regulatory burdens and practices that cost businesses time and money, while protecting environmental and health standards and enhancing worker safety.

In the 2016 Budget, the government announced that it would implement all of the recommendations contained in the 2015 Report on the Review of the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act, 1994 (CUCPA) (the Report). In implementing the recommendations, amendments to 11 Ontario regulations under various statutes are being proposed that would aim to treat credit unions and Caisses Populaires on a more equal footing with banks and other financial institutions.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has approval for forest management on Crown lands under the Environmental Assessment Act through Declaration Order MNR-75. MNR-75 includes requirements for MNRF to revise and submit the Manuals for Lieutenant Governor in Council (LGIC) approval within 18 months of the August 25, 2015 approval date. The MOECC Director granted a three month extension to submit the Manuals for LGIC approval (i.e., May 22, 2017).

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) is proposing amendments to Ontario Regulation 361/98 (Motor Vehicles), made under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA). If approved, the regulatory amendments would enable emissions testing using remote on-board diagnostics (OBD) technologies. Additionally, minor housekeeping changes are being proposed to ensure that the regulation is up-to-date.
