Past Proposals
The Access to Natural Gas Act, 2018 (Bill 32) has been introduced and would, if passed, authorize the creation of a rate-payer funded cross-subsidization Natural Gas Expansion Support Program. The Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines (ENDM) is proposing to create regulations to support Bill 32, if passed, that would outline program criteria and details.

In anticipation of cannabis legalization, the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services undertook a review of Ontario's Fire Code to ascertain if there was a need for new requirements relating to the cannabis industry. The review identified a few opportunities to strengthen requirements relating to certain hazardous operations that may be present in some cannabis and other processing industries.

The Ministry of Transportation is proposing to amend Regulation 628 (Vehicle Permits), under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) to only apply the administrative fee to refunds issued by cheque. The administrative fee will not be applied to credit and debit card refunds at point of sale. This proposal is being made to support the introduction of point of sale refunds to payment cards for unused licence plate validation fees when a licence plate is returned.
