Proposed Amendments to Ontario Regulation 422/17 (General) and Ontario Regulation 421/17 (Approvals under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program and Other Matters) made under the Ontario Immigration Act, 2015 (Act).

Consultation on Topics Related to Future Changes to Tarion

Tarion is seeking public input on several proposed regulatory changes to support the implementation of changes made to the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act as a result of the passage of the Rebuilding Consumer Confidence Act, 2020. Changes would also support the proposed designation of a regulatory authority under the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017.

Proposed Regulations to Support the Overhaul of Ontario's New Home Warranty and Protection Program

The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is proposing regulations under the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. These proposed regulations must be in place before the proposed future regulator of new home builders and vendors can begin operations by February 2021. We are also seeking input to support the creation of a future regulation that could make it easier for a homeowner to submit a warranty claim to Tarion by clarifying the evidence required by a claimant.

Proposed Regulations Under the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017, to Support the Overhaul of Ontario's New Home Warranty and Protection Program

The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is proposing regulations under the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017. The proposed regulations, if passed, would support the establishment of a new regulator for new home builders and vendors.

Amendments to O. Reg. 316/03 Regarding Off-Road Vehicle Access on Municipal Highways

The proposed amendments will complement statutory changes to the Highway Traffic Act and will allow all approved types of off-road vehicles to operate on municipal roads, except where restricted or prohibited by by-law, in certain municipalities.

Consultation on proposed Minister's Regulation under the Security from Trespass and Protecting Food Safety Act, 2020.

The Security from Trespass and Protecting Food Safety Act, 2020 ["Act"] aims to better protect agri-food workers, farm animals, livestock transporters, and the province's food supply from risks caused by trespassers. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs ["the Ministry"] would like to consult on a supporting Minister's Regulation required before the Act can be fully operational.

Proposal to expand the live capture of wild raptors (birds of prey) by licensed falconers  (source: Environmental Registry)

Falconry is regulated under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997 (FWCA) and regulations made under the Act. Ontario falconers are required to successfully complete an apprentice program and obtain a licence to be able to hunt with native Ontario raptors. There are approximately 200 licensed falconers in Ontario. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is proposing to expand the live capture of wild raptors by licensed falconers.

Proposed consequential amendments to Regulations under the Food Safety and Quality Act, Beef Cattle Marketing Act, Nutrient Management Act and Livestock Community Sales Act.

As a result of the implementation of the federal Safe Food for Canadians Act and regulations, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) proposes to update provincial regulations to reflect the new federal regulatory scheme, where it is referenced in OMAFRA regulations.

Amending Electricity Bills to include a new on-bill message to enhance transparency for customers

This proposed regulatory amendment would amend Ontario Regulation 275/04 (Information on Invoices to Certain Classes of Consumers of Electricity) to include a new on-bill message referring consumers to the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines' website for information about rate mitigation programs.

Proposed regulation amendment to establish a Local Forest Management Corporation for the Temagami Forest Management Unit under the Ontario Forest Tenure Modernization Act, 2011  (source: Environmental Registry)

This proposal seeks approval to establish a second Local Forest Management Corporation (LFMC) in Ontario, to be referred to as Temagami Forest Management Corporation (TFMC), through regulation amendment under the Ontario Forest Tenure Modernization Act, 2011 (OFTMA). The Temagami LFMC would hold a Sustainable Forest Licence and carry out forest management responsibilities on the Temagami Forest.
