As part of government's plan to create a more competitive business environment, OMAFRA is proposing to eliminate fees of $50 or less in Reg. 18. The proposal will save businesses the cost of the fees and the administrative cost associated with the issuing of cheques.
Public protection oversight will not be reduced as a result of these changes. Businesses that were required to be licensed before would still need to be licensed. OMAFRA will also retain the legal authority to conduct inspections.
