We are seeking input on our proposed draft regulation for hazardous and special products (HSP), under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016, that would require producers of hazardous and special products, such as paints, pesticides, solvents, oil filters, antifreeze and pressurized containers, to collect, manage or promote the recycling or proper disposal of these products at end-of-life.

Ministry of Long-Term Care considering regulatory amendments to enhance cooling requirements in long-term care homes to improve safety & comfort of residents. Proposal includes requirement for air conditioning or equivalent mechanical cooling systems in designated cooling areas & refined regulatory approach to clarify requirements for licensees to better protect residents from hot weather-related concerns. Residents would be protected from unacceptably high temperatures.

As part of government's plan to create a more competitive business environment, OMAFRA is proposing to eliminate fees of $50 or less in Reg. 18. The proposal will save businesses the cost of the fees and the administrative cost associated with the issuing of cheques.
Public protection oversight will not be reduced as a result of these changes. Businesses that were required to be licensed before would still need to be licensed. OMAFRA will also retain the legal authority to conduct inspections.
