The Ministry of Finance has launched its consultations on proposed regulations necessary for implementing a permanent target benefit framework in Ontario. This permanent framework would replace the temporary funding regulations currently in place for Specified Ontario Multi-Employer Pension Plans (SOMEPPs), which expire beginning in 2024.
The objective of the proposed permanent framework for target benefit pension plans is to strengthen governance, improve transparency and support long-term plan sustainability for plan members and employers through written policies, disclosures and funding requirements.
Regulations for consultation will be posted to this website in stages.

The ministry is proposing to maintain requirements in effect as of June 30, 2023 for customary care arrangements subsidized pursuant to the Ontario Permanency Funding Policy Guidelines while the ministry continues ongoing policy work regarding quality enhancements for the regulation of customary care under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA).

In co-operation with academia (Fisheries Conservation Foundation, Universities of Carleton, Illinois, Manitoba, and Queen's), the ministry is proposing to create temporary fish sanctuaries on Opinicon Lake and Charleston Lake for the 2024 and 2025 fishing season to support long-term bass nesting and population recruitment research.
