Proposed amendments to Ontario Regulation 156/18 under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA) to operationalize the CYFSA provisions relating to prevention-focused Indigenous service providers (PFISPs).

The purpose of the proposed regulatory amendments is to establish: • the PFISP designation process and corresponding process for revocation and voluntary removal of the designation; and • a Ministry administered webpage with regularly updated information about designated PFISPs that will simplify and streamline access to this information for frontline workers across Ontario. In addition, an amendment to s. 6(1) First Nations, Inuk or Métis child - complementary services of O. Reg. 156/18 is proposed to specify that other services providers under CYFSA consider the supports offered by PFISPs when determining the availability of complementary services.

Tarion Seeking Input On Regulatory Changes to Ensure Coverage for Current and Future Purchasers

Tarion is seeking public feedback on regulatory changes to deposit protection policy to ensure protection for future new home purchasers and help combat illegal vending of new homes. Together, the changes Tarion is proposing would increase consumer confidence, and protect the home warranty and protection program for current and future new home buyers in Ontario.

Safer Municipalities Act, 2024 - Restricting Public Consumption of Illegal Substances Act, 2024

The Ontario government has introduced the Safer Municipalities Act, 2024, that, if passed, will enact the Restricting Public Consumption of Illegal Substances Act, 2024.

Proposed regulatory amendments to Regulation 400: By-Laws for Local Boards and Regulation 421: Local Boards under the Farm Products Marketing Act and O. Reg. 209/99: By-Laws for Marketing Boards and Regulation 756: Marketing Boards under the Milk Act.

The Ontario Farm Product Marketing Commission is proposing to amend regulations that apply to agricultural marketing boards, their bylaws and their reporting requirements. The proposal is intended to reduce unnecessary burden on boards, enhance oversight and modernize the regulations.

Proposed changes to regulations under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act

The Ministry of the Solicitor General is considering changes to the regulations under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 to require individual licensees to report their use of force to the licensed business that employs them, to require licensed businesses to submit their use of force reports in limited circumstances to the Registrar, and to update the uniform and vehicle requirements for security guards.

Amendments to Reduce Records of Site Condition That Are Not Supporting Brownfields Redevelopment  (source: Environmental Registry)

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is proposing amendments to Ontario Regulation 153/04 to prohibit the submission of a record of site condition (RSC) for filing in specified circumstances, and to expand an exemption from RSC filing requirements for changes in the use of buildings from commercial or community use to mixed use.

This is a narrowly scoped proposal that would allow MNR, in limited circumstances, to take action to address a hazardous well that could harm people, property or the natural environment and pursue a non-compliant well operator for the costs of remediation.

Attracting new land surveyors to the profession to support Ontario's housing and infrastructure needs and modernize survey services.

Surveying is the foundation of all development, whether it is natural resource management or expanding and redeveloping Ontario's communities. Government and industry rely on the information surveyors provide to plan and build infrastructure, homes, and communities. The Surveyors Act has not substantially changed since 1987 and requires updating to attract new surveyors to the profession, to reflect today's modern technologies, and support housing and infrastructure development.

Proposed Support for Seniors and Caregivers Act, 2024: Proposals to amend the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 (RHA)

The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility is proposing under Schedule 2 of the Support for Seniors and Caregivers Act, 2024 to amend the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 (RHA) to make changes such as: 1.) Revise the RHA Residents' Bill of Rights to reinforce the right to ongoing support from caregivers (e.g., family/friends providing care); and 2.) Provide authority for specified employees of the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility to issue sector-specific direction and recommendations to retirement home licensees respecting the prevention and management of infectious respiratory or gastrointestinal diseases. The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility is seeking input on these proposals.

Support for Seniors and Caregivers Act, 2024: Proposed amendments to the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (FLTCA)

The Support for Seniors and Caregivers Act, 2024 (Bill or Act), if passed, would amend the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (FLTCA) and Retirement Homes Act, 2010. The proposed bill includes amendments that aim to enhance the quality of life and care for seniors in Ontario by advancing priorities in three key areas: improving dementia care and supports; supporting seniors, their families and caregivers; and protecting seniors and enhancing social connections. The Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) is seeking input on the proposed amendments to the FLTCA.

Proposed amendment to Ontario Regulation 704/21 Exemption Orders Under Section 15.1 of the Act under the Insurance Act

The Ministry of Finance is seeking comments on its proposal to amend Ontario Regulation 704/21 Exemption Orders Under Section 15.1 of the Act under the Insurance Act (O. Reg. 704/21). The amendment seeks to provide the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) with the ability to exempt persons or entities from the requirement of section 231 of the Insurance Act. The proposal aims to enable FSRA to consider the creation of a pilot project under FSRA's Test and Learn Environment (TLE) to facilitate the sale of automobile insurance at motor vehicle dealerships under FSRA's Test and Learn Environment (TLE).
