The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) sets the minimum safety standards for safe electrical installations, products and equipment in Ontario. To ensure that the OESC reflects changes in technologies and responds to reports of electrical incidents, it is updated every three years. Ontario adopts the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) as one part of the OESC. The 2009 OESC contains 58 Ontario specific amendments to the national CEC. Adoption of the 2009 OESC enhances safety and provides business and users of the Code with clear and consistent rules. The 2009 OESC came into force in January 2009.
