Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Transportation is proposing two amendments to the current GLS program.

1.The first proposal is to increase the length of time novice drivers spend in both G1 and G2 from, 12 months to 18 months at each level. The 18-month period in G1 may be reduced to one year, if a driver completes an approved beginner driver education (BDE) course and submits a certificate from an approved driving school to the Ministry.

2.The second proposal is to introduce escalating sanctions for novice drivers for any combination of repeat violations of G1/G2/M1/M2 restrictions; convictions for individual HTA offences totalling four points and higher; or court-ordered licence suspensions for HTA offences.

The government of Ontario is considering these proposals and we invite you to submit your comments on the proposed changes.
