Further Information:
Proposal Number:
15-MNRF009
Posting Date:
June 3, 2015
Summary of Proposal:
There are presently 303 private cottage lots in Algonquin Provincial Park. Tenure for these cottage lots currently expires at the end of 2017. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has proposed a policy that would allow these cottage lots to remain in the park until December 31, 2038 (EBR Registry Number 01-7289).

Currently, Ontario Regulation 347/07 (Provincial Parks: General Provisions) prohibits the occupation of cottage lots in Algonquin Provincial Park beyond 2017. Therefore, as part of the proposal to extend tenure, MNRF is considering an amendment to Ontario Regulation 347/07 that would enable occupation of existing cottage lots to extend beyond 2017.
