Driver, Vehicle and Carrier Fee increases under the Highway Traffic Act

Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Transportation is seeking to increase fees for driver, vehicle and carrier products and services under Regulations 628, 381/98, 340/94, 473/07 and 273/07.

The fees for the following driver, vehicle and carrier products and services will be increased:

• Dealer plates, service plates, manufacturer motor vehicle and motorcycle and motorcycle dealer/service plates validation;
• Southern and Northern passenger and light commercial vehicle validation ;
• Buses and school buses validation;
• Heavy commercial validation;
• Farm vehicle greater than 3000 kg validation;
• Manufacturer motor vehicle and motorcycle and dealer plate/permit;
• Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) replacement and Oversize/Overweight (O/O) replacement permits;
• Driver licence original and renewal including the driver licensing fee as part of the Enhanced Driver's Licence (EDL); driver licence replacement and EDL replacement, driver instructor licence replacement and;
• Driver licence reinstatement after suspensions and Administrative Monetary Penalty (AMP).

Revenue from the new and increased fees will help support the maintenance of Ontario's transportation infrastructure and recover the cost of delivering and administering programs.
