Summary of Decision:
The amendments to the Meat Regulation, O. Reg. 31/05 will allow for the ante-mortem inspection and emergency slaughter of certain food animals (e.g. injured, dangerous, escaped) outside of a slaughter plant under the authorization of a Regional Veterinarian; establish standards for the processing of hunted game and hunted game products in licensed meat plants and; provide an exception from requirement for breast tags on poultry intended for immediate consumption at a food premise such as a hotel, restaurant or institution.
