Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (the ministry) is requesting approval to amend Regulation 552 under the Health Insurance Act to permit the renewal of Ontario health cards online.
Regulations within O. Reg. 552 of the Health Insurance Act stipulate that an application to be an insured person must be in the form approved by the General Manager (s.4(1)); and that a person must submit their application in-person (s.4(2)), unless otherwise exempt. This requirement to submit an application in-person does not permit health card renewal service online until such a time as 0. Reg. 552 is amended.
The proposed changes would enable the development of a new online option for health card renewals.
