Summary of Proposal:
For the purposes of a determination of a child's bands and First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities under this Act, a child's bands and communities are any of the following:

a) where the views of the child can be ascertained, the bands and First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities with which a child identifies;
b) if the views of the child cannot be ascertained, bands and First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities identified by the child's parents as the band or community with which the child identifies; or
c) the bands and First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities of which a child is a member.

A child may identify with or be a member of more than one band or First Nations, Inuit or Métis community.
