Summary of Proposal:
The College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario (CRPO), pursuant to its authority under section 11 of the Psychotherapy Act, 2007, is proposing a regulation that "Council may make regulations prescribing therapies involving the practice of psychotherapy, governing the use of prescribed therapies and prohibiting the use of therapies other than the prescribed therapies in the course of the practice of psychotherapy". The proposed regulation would apply to all Registered Psychotherapists (RPs), both in the provision of the controlled act, as part of the practice of psychotherapy, and the broader scope of practice.

1. The following are the categories of prescribed therapies involving the practise of psychotherapy:
• Cognitive and Behavioural therapies
• Experiential and Humanistic therapies
• Psychodynamic therapies
• Somatic therapies
• Systemic and Collaborative therapies
Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
There are no administrative or compliance costs to business anticipated. Regulatory colleges are not-for-profit organizations. The proposed regulation does not create a new administrative or compliance standard for members of the profession.
