Summary of Decision:
O. Reg. 421/12 has been amended to accomplish the following:
Extend, for one year, the membership fee exemption for individuals who held a Barber Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) under previous apprenticeship and skilled trades legislation.
These individuals can obtain a Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in the trade of Hairstylist but are not required to pay annual membership fees to the Ontario College of Trades. These individuals are not exempt from the compulsory certification requirements under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 and are required to hold a Hairstylist C of Q to practice their trade. The exemption will now expire on April 8, 2021.
