Summary of Decision:
The ministry has decided not to proceed with a legislative amendment to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, Regulation 587 to require that daytime running lights (DRLs) be used if the vehicle was manufactured with DRLs, or if the vehicle was equipped with DRLs upon importation. The ministry will use public education to promote and clarify the use of DRLs, and will continue to be monitor related matters.

Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Transportation is seeking comments on a proposed amendment to Ontario Regulation 587 under the Highway Traffic Act.

This proposed amendment would require that daytime running lights (DRLs) must be used if the vehicle was manufactured with DRLs, or if DRLs were required to be installed during importation.
