Summary of regulation under the Université de Hearst Act, 2021
Summary of Proposal:
On June 3, 2021, Bill 276, the Supporting Recovery and Competitiveness Act, 2021, received Royal Assent. Schedule 28 of the Supporting Recovery and Competitiveness Act, 2021 sets out the Université de Hearst Act, 2021, which would continue the Université de Hearst as an independent university with degree-granting authority.

The Université de Hearst Act, 2021 is not yet in force. It will come into force on a date to be named by proclamation of the Lieutenant Governor. The legislation authorizes

The summary of the proposed regulation reflect in many respects the subject matters addressed in the Université de Hearst Act, 2021 and other statutes for publicly-assisted Ontario universities.

This proposal is not expected to introduce any other regulatory burden or costs for businesses, beyond those listed above.
