Summary of Proposal:
On August 5, 2010, the government announced that temporary solvency funding relief would be provided by regulation to certain universities, with application retroactive to December 31, 2009. This amending regulation extends the deadline for Lakehead and Wilfred Laurier universities to file their December 31, 2009 funding valuations until March 31, 2011, in order to provide them the opportunity to access the proposed solvency funding relief. The amending regulation also modifies the requirements related to special payments emerging from these funding valuations to reflect the extended filing date.
