Amendment of Regulation O. Reg. 329/04 (General) under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA)
Regulation Number(s):
329/04
Instrument Type:
Regulation - LGIC
Bill or Act:
Personal Health Information Protection Act
Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently planning for the potential voluntary integration of CritiCall Ontario (CritiCall) into Ornge. In order to begin operating the Critical Care Information System (CCIS), Ornge has to replace Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation as the PHIPA prescribed person in respect of the CCIS.
The PHIPA Regulation currently identifies "Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation" as the prescribed person in respect of the Critical Care Information System under section 13 of the PHIPA Regulation.
The proposed regulation would make the following amendments to the PHIPA Regulation:
1. Name Ornge as the "Prescribed Person" (i.e., a Prescribed Registry) in respect of the Critical Care Information System (CCIS), replacing Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation.
2. Name change to replace "Ontario Air Ambulance Services Corporation" with "Ornge" under section 3 (5).
Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
The proposed amendments to the PHIPA Regulation would have no additional costs or burdens on the public. There would be no impacts on administrative costs or fiscal implications within the government not already accounted for.
