Summary of Proposal:
The Grape Growers of Ontario (GGO) requested amendments to R.R.O 1990, Regulation 415 (Grapes For Processing – Plan) under the Farm Products Marketing Act. GGO members were consulted on this matter, and agreed to the amendments. The main elements of the requested amendments include:

-An increase in size of the GGO Board from eight to 10 members;
- Prince Edward County (PEC) and Southwestern Ontario (SWO) became separate districts with designated Board members. Previous to this amendment they were part of the Grimsby district; and
- The terms for board members have been changed to staggered three year from the previous one year term. A three year transition period has been allowed for implementation of this change.

The GGO met with the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission (the “Commission”) in September 2009 to request these changes to its governance structure. At that time, the Commission gave its support in principle for the changes, pending endorsement by the membership of GGO. After consulting with growers, GGO altered the details of its proposal to reflect grower input. Prior to the revision, PEC and SWO had been combined as one district. The Commission gave its final approval to the regulatory amendments on March 10, 2010.
