Summary of Proposal:
College Introduction
Under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) and the Psychotherapy Act, 2007, the transitional Council of the College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario (transitional Council) is, among other things, responsible for making regulations respecting the future, self-regulating profession of psychotherapy in Ontario.
Under these Acts, the transitional Council may make regulations on a variety of subject matters, including prescribing a quality assurance program, subject to the prior review of the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
Summary of Regulation
The quality assurance regulation sets out the framework of the College's mandatory quality assurance program for its members.
The regulation establishes the core components of the program, which includes:
· Self-Assessment;
· Professional Development;
· Peer and Practice Assessment; and
· Remediation.
The regulation sets out the general requirements for mandatory member participation in the program and the procedural rules for ensuring the fairness of the program.
