College Introduction:

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is responsible for governing the self-regulating profession of medicine in Ontario in the public interest and in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), the Health Professions Procedural Code (Code) and the Medicine Act, 1991.

Under the Code, the CPSO may make regulations on a variety of subject matters, including registration, subject to prior review by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Summary of Proposal

The CPSO made the following amendments to its Registration Regulation:

a) introduced new labour mobility provisions that would render the registration requirements consistent with the labour mobility provisions of the Code, as amended by the Ontario Labour Mobility Act, 2009 ("OLMA"), and

a) made minor housekeeping amendments.
