Proposal Number:
07-MNR001
Posting Date:
April 19, 2007
Summary of Proposal:
Currently provincial parks are managed under the Provincial Parks Act, and conservation reserves are managed under the Public Lands Act. Cabinet has approved regulations under these acts to set the "rules" about what can and cannot be done in provincial parks and conservation reserves. The existing regulations for provincial parks are extensive. One existing regulation applies to conservation reserves and it provides limited direction regarding their management.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is releasing for review and comment proposed regulations under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act. There are a number of proposed regulations.

These draft regulations do not address hunting and fishing in provincial parks and conservation reserves. Hunting and fishing are regulated under authority of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act and the Migratory Birds Convention Act. No changes are proposed to regulations under these acts.
