Summary of Decision:
A 4% increase in the funding rate was approved. Effective July 1, 2012, the daily funding rate per person will increase from $47.76 to $49.67 and the monthly funding rate per person will increase from $1452.70 to $1510.80.

As well, hospital/mental health facility names in section 33 will be removed in order to reference that the charitable organizations relied upon in section 42 are also being relied upon for admission of residents.

A minor amendment was approved for section 43 for housekeeping purposes. Section 43(12) and section 43(14) were repealed. These sections are not needed as they refer to the Family Benefits Act which has been repealed.

Summary of Proposal:
It is proposed that Regulation 636 under the Homes for Special Care Act be amended. Section 43 of the regulation would be amended to provide a 4% increase in the funding rate provided to licensed operators by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The daily funding rate per person will increase from $47.76 to $49.67. The monthly funding rate per person will increase from $1452.70 to $1510.80. This funding increase will assist to offset increased operating costs and will be effective the first day of the month following approval of the regulation.

A minor change is proposed in Section 33. Hospital/mental health facility names in this section will be removed in order to reference that the charitable organizations relied upon in section 42 are also being relied upon for admission of residents. Consistent language is preferred.
