Protecting Your Personal Information

The Summer Company Program (the "Program") and this Web Site are owned and operated by the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (“the Ministry).  The Ministry has adopted a Privacy Policy, which explains how the Ministry will safeguard the personal information that you provide through the Program and the Web Site.  The Ministry is also subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, which governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information by the Ministry.


Notice of Collection

Personal information is collected under the authority of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.27, as amended and Order in Council 1960/2006.

Personal information will be used by the Ministry to administer, advertise and promote the Program and to contact applicants about future Ministry initiatives.  Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, information will be used to:

  1. Provide a database of students registered in the Program.
  2. Provide the data required to generate aggregate statistical reports relating to the Program, such as the total number of applicants per region.
  3. Allow Program Providers, on behalf of the Ministry, to administer the Program through the following activities:
    1. Review and approve each application.
    2. Change an application in conjunction with the applicant.
    3. Review and help applicants maintain cash flow maintenance and journaling activities.
    4. Recommend disbursement of funds.
  4. Provide the Ministry with the information required to disburse funds.
  5. Provide the data required to conduct program-related marketing studies.
  6. Allow the Ministry to contact applicants about a new program or future Ministry initiatives related to entrepreneurship and economic development.
  7. Allow the Ministry to promote the Program through the Ministry's Web Site and other media communications, including but not limited to brochures, newspaper/magazine articles, photos and advertisements.

I consent to the disclosure of my personal information to Program Providers and other ministries for purposes of promoting and administering the Program.

Should I withdraw my consent after my application has been submitted, I acknowledge the following conditions:

  1. I must return all funds given to me by the Ministry if withdrawal of consent is made during the period when I am actively participating in a Program.
  2. I will not be permitted to make another Summer Company application in any future Program year.
  3. The Ministry will erase all of my personal information from the Program information bank, unless there is an overriding legal requirement to retain the information.

I have read and accept the conditions of this Notice of Collection under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and I understand the content.
