The Ministry anticipates no new administrative costs or burdens if the proposed amendment to Reg. 552 (General) and proposed updates to the SOB-LS are approved by government.

Summary of Proposal:
The proposed amendment to Reg. 552 (General) is as follows:
o Update section 1(1) titled "DEFINITIONS".
o Under "DEFINITIONS", revise the term "schedule of laboratory benefits" by replacing July 1, 2019 with January 1, 2020. The section currently states July 1, 2019 as it was the last time the SOB-LS was updated.
The proposed amendments to the SOB-LS, effective January 1, 2020 are as follows:
a) Housekeeping: Correcting grammar (e.g., spacing between words), correct text or update outdated terminology.
b) Technical: Deleting references to the fecal occult blood test (FOBT) in the ColonCancerCheck program and corresponding fee code references (L179),
- The Ministry proposes to delete Section 16 (page 7 of 32) in the SOB-LS;
- The Ministry proposes to delete references to L179 on pgs. 7, 11, 15, and 28 of the SOB-LS.
The proposed changes align with implementation of the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) in the ColonCancerCheck program which commenced on June 24, 2019.
