Posting Date:

Summary of Proposal:
The amending regulation relates to the introduction of the legislative framework necessary to implement the Proposed Agreement Respecting Multi-Jurisdictional Pension Plans (Proposed Agreement), a pan-Canadian agreement relating to the regulation of multi-jurisdictional pension plans (MJPPs). MJPPs are registered pension plans with members in more than one Canadian jurisdiction. If adopted by governments across the country, the Proposed Agreement would modernize Canada’s pension system by establishing clear rules for the administration of MJPPs. The amending regulation sets out the list of Canadian jurisdictions which would be designated as permitted parties to the Proposed Agreement.
