The regulation lists cemeteries that are exempt from the obligation to establish and maintain a care and maintenance fund under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002.

The regulation also sets the maximum amount an operator may require as a refundable deposit under a contract with respect to cremated remains that have not been claimed, to ensure the remains can be properly interred; the maximum amount that an operator may require as payment under a contract for services in relation to an assisted burial or cremation; and the maximum amount an operator may request for receiving human remains from an irregular burial site.
