Cost Recovery for the Environmental Activity and Sector Registry

Regulation Number(s):
NA
Instrument Type:
Information
Bill or Act:
Environmental Protection Act
Summary of Decision:
A registration charge has been set to help recover the province's costs to develop and operate the EASR program while encouraging compliance with the EASR requirements. This includes costs for: program and IT development, ongoing program support to conduct the research and analysis needed to choose additional activities and sectors suitable for the registry and develop eligibility requirements for those activities and sectors, and ensuring compliance with EASR requirements.

While there was no initial charge to register an activity in the EASR, the Ministry will be introducing a $1,190 registration charge to register an activity in the EASR. Payment must be received in full for a registrant to receive the confirmation of registration that it requires to engage in its activity.

Payment will be required for all registrations received on or after the implementation date. It is a one-time charge, payable at the time of registration, and is the same for all registrants. Subject to the Director's discretion, a refund may be given. Only entities, companies or individuals, who register an eligible activity in the EASR are subject to the registration charge.
