Proposal Number:
13-MOE015
Posting Date:
May 23, 2013
Summary of Proposal:
The amendments would allow operators of on-farm anaerobic digestion facilities regulated under the NMA to increase the percentage of off-farm materials that they can use from 25 percent to 50 percent rather than having to obtain an REA or ECA. The amendments also set out enhanced environmental requirements to ensure facilities are properly managed.

This initiative seeks to:

Respond to the Ministry of Energy's Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program review by finding new and innovative ways to support and promote small-scale renewable energy generation projects; and

Broaden the environmental management and treatment of materials containing nutrients on farms.
