Summary of Proposal:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) are proposing to replace the existing Dead Animal Disposal Act (DADA) with two new regulations that provide greater flexibility for the industry. The regulations under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002 (NMA) would address on-farm disposal and the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001 (FSQA) would address off-farm disposal. Amendments to Regulation 347 General Waste regulation under the Environmental Protection Act are also proposed.
