The Ontario College of Trades has created a new Board regulation titled "Ratios of Journeypersons to Apprentices" under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act 2009. The regulation prescribes the journeyperson to apprentice ratios for 33 trades with ratios, as determined through an apprenticeship ratio review process conducted by the College's review panels.
This regulation will replace and revoke O. Reg. 98/13 (Ratios of Apprentices to Journeypersons). O. Reg. 98/13 implemented ratios for two trades on April 8, 2013 - cement (concrete) finisher and floor covering installer. It is more administratively efficient to revoke O. Reg. 98/13 and replace it with a new regulation rather than amending it.
