Summary of Proposal:
The proposed amendment would continue to ensure that appliances and energy using products sold or leased in Ontario meet minimum efficiency requirements by a specified compliance date. The proposal would also revise the wording of the regulation to reflect the transition from the former Energy Efficiency Act to the Green Energy and Green Economy Act as the enabling legislation. (One of those changes has added the authority to set water efficiency requirements to former Energy Efficiency Act authority to set energy efficiency requirements). Implementation would be by amending Regulation 82/95 (as amended by Regulations 326/98, 346/00, 18/02, 44/04, 384/05 and 38/06, made under the Energy Efficiency Act).
